Summit Engineering uses state-of-the-art Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) programs to predict performance of new pump stages. By incorporating CFD modeling into each step of our iterative design process, our engineers can quickly refine the design features and rapidly deliver an optimally efficient, high performance stage to market. In essence, Summit thus uses numerical methods to digitally test the pump long before parts are manufactured.

The Summit Tiger Shark XR (Extended Range) pump stages

incorporate innovative hydraulic design concepts, with wide mixed flow vanes and greater operating ranges designed specifically to handle rapid declining, sandy, and gassy wells typical of today’s dynamic unconventional vertical and horizontal drilled shale plays across North America.

The Tiger Shark XR stages

incorporate an abrasion resistant flanged insert design that absorbs downthrust produced by the stages in the pump rather than the seal. The XR design eliminates the need for compression pumps which require time-consuming precise field shimming. Imprecise shimming can potentially lead to short run times due to human errors as each connection requires accurately measured, calculated and performed shimming.

The Tiger Shark XRD (Extended Range Defender) stages

incorporate a patented flange insert design engineered to extend run life. The Tiger Shark flange sleeve incorporates a diagonal axial groove connected to the radial groove on the bushing. This innovation is designed to move the sand particles through the insert. The result is that the sand particles are kept away from internal critical clearance areas where damage can occur and avoids unimpeded recirculation.

Summit ESP’s Tiger Shark XR and XRD 320

has a low end operating range of less than 25 barrels per day and a high end operating range of 460 barrels per day. The Tiger Shark XR 1000 and XRD 1000 has a low end operating range of 200 barrels per day while offering a high end operating range of 1,650 barrels per day. Additional Summit Tiger Shark XR and XRD stages will overlap production ranges up to 30,200 barrels per day. The broad efficient operating ranges of the Tiger Shark XR pumps allow the operator to maintain maximum production without the high costs associated with system change outs and nonproductive time as the well productivity declines.

A properly designed system

by experienced Summit ESP application engineers can handle changing conditions during the life of the well, even possibly eliminating the switch over to beam lift as the rate falls below legacy electrical submersible pump applications. Summit ESP’s line of proprietary gas handlers, Tiger Shark XRGH, can be run in conjunction with Summit Tiger Shark XR pumps and Summit Liberator gas separators. The gas handler pump stages with patent-pending hydraulic vane configurations can handle up to 60% free gas in fluid volumes from less than 25 barrels per day and up to 9,000 barrels per day. Adding Summit ESP’s new line of Corsair Motors allows the operator to expect and receive better runtimes through reduced vibration, improved sealing and better dielectric strength.
